Tip: After crossing the bridge, take the trail back to the chairlift for the best views of the bridge!

🏨 Staying at the historic perryhotel (since 1899!) located in downtown Petoskey. We loved how we could walk to shops, restaurants and Bayfront Park. Plus, we had easy access to the Little Traverse Wheelway.
Tip: Request a room with a view of Little Traverse Bay!

The #fallcolors have been slow to change in some parts of puremichigan this year🍁🍂so there are still plenty of spots to hit, and some places only show a little color still. This shot is from last weekend near Harbor Springs, there is a pretty big difference between areas near the shore up there, and areas further inland. Most folks would agree that finding your first Petoskey stone is a Michigander rite of passage. But do you know exactly what a Petoskey stone is? A fossil! Specifically, a fossil of long-gone Hexagonaria coral. This coral lived in prehistoric Michigan, when waters were warm, shallow, and even tropic! Once the Hexagonaria coral had fossilized into the Petoskey stones we know today, they were plucked from ancient Michigan bedrock by glaciers, and spread all over the state as the glaciers melted and moved.

It’s no secret that we’re road tripping right now. We are staying in Petoskey, Michigan for the next 2 nights. Speaking of hidden gems 💎 ....... On our recent trip to Petoskey State Park, I had wanted to go out to Harbor Point and the Little Traverse Lighthouse and do some exploring. We took the short drive to Harbor Springs, and as we got to this peninsula, we were told that the whole thing is private property. ☹️☹️. So we found a nice spot in the harbor and let my drone do its thing 🔥🔥.
