The hardest working independent artist in the midwest was able to put all those miles and hours behind the wheel to good use in the writing of "American Fire", released in November of 2013. The album is filled with hard won memories, stories, and rock coated country music straight from America's heartland. With a young voice that already holds the maturity and grit of a seasoned rocker, and a pen that knows how to connect to listeners of all ages and backgrounds, Kris is a rising star in the writing and performing world. Joining with Nashville producer Aaron Eshuis, the album explodes out of the speakers. Even at his young age, you can hear the true-life, lived out experiences that Kris writes about.... Dave will again pound the keyboards from every imaginable angle, in his energetic style reminiscent of Jerry Lee Lewis. Dave's "Rockin' the 50's" show throws down added pizazz with tributes to "The King" and "The Man in Black".

Charlevoix Venetian Festival
309 Petoskey Ave, PO Box 120
Charlevoix, MI  49720 Map

As one of Venetian's oldest and grandest traditions graces the center stage aisle on Venetian Friday, a fitting headline performance awaits the newly crowned Venetian Queen and her court. "Abbamania" will burst onto the stage, prior to Friday's fireworks, with a cascade of classic pop hits, from "Dancing Queen" to "Waterloo."

"Abbamania" is a collection of accomplished studio musicians from Toronto, Canada, who render the world's number one production of Abba. They are the only Abba production to perform twice for the cast of Mama Mia, and have been recognized by the New York Times as "vocally superb" and by Rolling Stone magazine as "incredible."

Friday night's crowd will be treated to a Venetian bonus, as this impressive production launches into its "Night Fever" stage show, with the high harmonies and stage presence of the Bee Gees. Be sure to bring your dancing shoes (or sandals), as such rhythms as "Jive Talking, Stayin' Alive and You Should be Dancing" flow from the stage.

The Round Lake waterfront will be a hoppin' spot on Venetian Friday, July 21st, as Charlevoix goes back in time to an era when Abba and the Bee Gees ruled the pop music world.

Charlevoix Venetian Festival

Charlevoix, MI  49720 Map

Venetian Saturday is certainly a "family affair" as the town, from toddlers to great grandfolks, join ranks in celebrating the day long Venetian festivities. A family flock of Michiganders, The Ragbirds, will likewise descend upon center stage in their Saturday evening headline performance.

Venetian spotted The Ragbirds in flight, in their migration from their home base of Ann Arbor to their teaching stint at the Interlochen Academy of Arts. The group graciously agreed to play Venetian, and the rest is history.

From their humble beginnings of busking on the streets of Ann Arbor, the Ragbirds have blossomed with a prolific road show itinerary throughout the continental states. They have even landed on the shores of Osaka, Japan, where they scored a number one pop hit.

The punchy, positive minded roots music and stage shows of The Ragbirds have earned local and national praise, such as acclaim by USA Today as "Highly Impressive"! The spunk and spirit of a Ragbirds show promises to set the stage for a great conclusion to the Festival on Venetian Saturday, July 22nd.

MOXIE STRINGS
Thursday, August 03, 2017
Hailed by The Grand Rapids Press as “top-notch, instrumental wizardry,” The Moxie Strings offer listeners the unique opportunity to experience some of the world’s best-known instruments through a young, progressive lens. Diana Ladio and Alison Lynn, often joined by percussionist, Fritz McGirr, all hold Bachelor of Music degrees in music performance, which have given each the technical foundation to explore the limits of his/her instrument and helped the group build a reputation for musical excellence. The Moxie Strings compose the majority of their pieces and arrange melodies from many traditions, resulting in a genre-blurring blend of ear-catching melodies and foot-stomping, rock-influenced rhythms. Alison performs on a newly-invented, electric cello, and Diana on a contemporary 5-string violin, both through a variety of audio effects pedals. Fritz performs on a mix of world percussionist instruments and drum kit. Their polished, high-energy show and unique sound are redefining strings' role in contemporary music, and have quickly made the band one of the country’s most promising instrumental acts.
