Boyne Mountain Resort
The Mountain Grand Lodge serves as the anchor to the new Village at Boyne Mountain. This resort hotel is destined to become the benchmark for all four season accommodations and services. The Mountain Grand’s interior features 220 luxurious rooms of one, two, three and four bedroom suites. These spacious accommodations carry the resort1s theme to a level reminiscent of the finest mountain lodges of Switzerland and Austria. Engaging and traditional colors and styles await our guests – icy blues and pale greens complement the solid pine doors and custom-made furniture found in each suite. Fireplaces accented by colorful handmade tiles, hand-hewn timber mantels and accessories such as cuckoo clocks complete the signature decor. Additional interior touches include hand carved and painted accents of knotty pine, granite countertops, custom draperies and sheers, natural wood, and vintage ski artwork.

🏨 Staying at the historic perryhotel (since 1899!) located in downtown Petoskey. We loved how we could walk to shops, restaurants and Bayfront Park. Plus, we had easy access to the Little Traverse Wheelway.
Tip: Request a room with a view of Little Traverse Bay!

Here we have Othmar Schneider from #lechamarlberg. Schneider’s highlights in an accomplished, varied and lengthy career include the distinction of being 🇦🇹 Austria’s first #olympic alpine champion with gold and silver medals at #oslo #1952; coach of the usskiteam, Austrian and Chilean national teams; ski school director stowemt boyne.mountain and skiportillo. He eventually returned home to lechzuers and founded the luxury hotel, Kristiania Lech.
What I am just learning about is Schneider’s work with ski equipment. Thanks to internationalskiinghistory for this insight:
“Sears Roebuck launched a line of Othmar Schneider ski gear; Schneider arranged for voelklskis, fischerski, markerproducts, lookbindings and a number of Italian factories to make the equipment, and trained non-skiing Sears sales clerks to sell it.”
“… a successful career selling steel edges to most of the ski factories in Austria, Germany and the United States.”
And he also earned a Chemistry degree at some point!

A little skiing, a little zip lining, the masked outdoor air and a lot of fun.
The flipside of that fun. Jett lost our rental keys and enterprise has to come and deliver us a new car. Whoopsies. Wonderful customer service all around and we are just grateful to have this time together.

𝗟𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗼 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹. As for many of us 2020 was fuuuuucking hard, emotionally, physically, everything. Since Matix was born Wyatt and I have been confined to our home with no visitors outside of our immediate family with covid tests every time.
This was the first weekend that felt 𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘭 in a long time, and it was so fun to celebrate Wyatts 25th birthday. Heading back home sucks, but at least it gave us a glimpse at the light hopefully coming for us all.

Life is funny isn’t it?
It involves twists and turns and never quite follows a straight line.
But here’s the thing, the good stuff is when you ignore the arrows pointing straight ahead to the easy road only to find that the magic was in going the route you never imagined. I’m pretty sure that both of the families involved would say that that route let us to hanging here at the bottom of the mountain together laughing over life’s path and being reminded how grateful we all are to share a bond unlike any other.
Yep, life is funny.

It was cut short after I received a text from the big boys (aka, the dads), who decided it was time for the four of us to sneak away and have a cocktail around an outdoor fire while we let the kids loose on the slopes.
