Petoskey, Michigan -

A midnight dream, realized!

Do you ever have an item on your to-do list that just seems to keep hanging around but never gets completed?

Maybe for a week or a month or years?!

To be honest, we've got dozens of items like this. But this Spring, we've set our sights on knocking off as many items as we can!

And one of the most satisfying items was officially checked off the list last night!

As of 9pm last night, our tractor has work lights!!!

It wasn't expensive. It wasn't terribly complicated. It just took time and follow through and we owe all our thanks to Mr. Dave!

Mr. Dave is our neighbor, our tractor and small engine fix-it man, and an all-around great guy to have in our world. The kids love watching him work on the equipment after dinner and we love that they love it! And hopefully they're paying close attention, because engine mechanics we are not!

Many times we have to get work done before dawn and after dark, and we've been limited in what we can (safely) accomplish. In different chapters of our lives, our work-life rhythm on the farm has taken different forms.

Lately, busy days with hundreds of customers and dozens of employees have made for exciting days but little time to slip out to the fields to get some field work done.

Similarly, with a young family and trying to squeeze in lots of fun adventures between the end of work and bed time, staying after work in the fields means missing out on family time.

So we've been singing a different song this season.
Work all day with our fabulous staff and customers.
Enjoy all of life's beautiful family moments after work until bedtime.
And then head out to the fields or greenhouses after the kids are asleep, the customers are gone, and the employees have gone home.

It's peaceful, calm, and oftentimes...pitch black out.

The main greenhouse has lights, which has been very helpful.
And now, the tractor has lights, too!

We are SO excited for what is now possible as we juggle our busy lives to find the best rhythm for us in this chapter of life.

PS: We know we're late to the party on tractor work lights. But we're glad to finally join the cool kids!
