This classic Jerry Matthew’s design surrounds the golfer with natural beauty and spectacular views. The front nine features a beautiful parkland setting with acres of mowed grass, which allows a smooth transition into the woods and creeks of the back nine. Host of Michigan’s amateur championship for several years, The Dells is truly a fair and fun test of golf.

The course is truly a hidden gem. I have been playing the course for about 20 years. I’ve played many of the area’s top courses and put Antrim at the top of my list for course to play in Michigan. The staff is courteous and respectful. If you haven’t played Antrim, you haven’t played Michigan golf. It’s all there in one great golf course.

This is a great course to play. Generally not busy because of the location. The course offers an interesting layout. The first 9 holes allow the golfer to swing more freely without worrying about accuracy, while the back nine has a lot tighter fairways and a lot of hazards to deal with. It’s a great mixture for the golfer.

Since it’s opening in 2000, Black Lake has received many national awards and rankings. The 2009-2010 Golf Digest has selected Black Lake as #34 in their rankings of “100 Greatest Publlic courses in the United States”.
Black Lake Golf Club is an 18 hole public golf course designed by nationally acclaimed architect Rees Jones, most known for his restoration work on many US Open courses.

Summer solstice has come and gone. Bucket lists are in full swing and weekends that have been a year in the making with friends and family are well underway. Just remember, donโt forget to pause, soak it all in and intentionally spend some time in a no wake zone.
Our midwestern habits tend to squeeze so much into these warmer months that summer can feel like itโs slipping away just as it begins but look how beautiful it is when you seek slow moments. Some of our favorite NoMi activities to ground ourselves in the season are watching boats come in, walking the shore for stones, lunch in Penn Park, browsing mcleanandeakin for summer reads (PS Where The Crawdads Sing!?!-still getting chills from the ending), sitting in the Rose Garden staffordshospitality watching the kids play on a Sunday evening after the town settles from the weekend. The theme of our trip to Michigan this week is โodd lodgingโ or Lโoddโging, if you will. ๐ก The coastal city of Charlevoix is home to several historic mushroom style houses both big and small. We spent the evening in an original mushroom house that has been renovated and reimagined - complete with several cozy fireplaces and enough beds to sleep up to 14 people. ๐The hobbit-style home was designed by famous architect Earl Young in 1918 and boasts a thatch roof that was made in Europe before it was sent straight to the US to be installed here. ๐ฟ It might not have been Middle Earth but it sure felt like the closest we could get to it in real life!

Since it’s opening in 2000, Black Lake has received many national awards and rankings. The 2009-2010 Golf Digest has selected Black Lake as #34 in their rankings of “100 Greatest Publlic courses in the United States”.
